Bolivar Marks France's 55-Year Habanos Relationship With a Numbered Cabinet

Habanos S.A. and its French distributor Coprova have released the Bolivar Evento 55, a regional edition timed to Coprova's 55th anniversary and available only in France. The vitola is a Genios -- 140mm by 52 ring gauge -- in a cabinet of 50, individually numbered and capped at 4,000 boxes. Each cigar carries a second band designating it an Exclusivo Francia, and the retail price is 35 euros per stick or 1,750 euros for the cabinet. This marks the first time Coprova has released a product in cabinet packaging rather than the standard box format, which gives the 55th anniversary a genuine collectible dimension beyond the anniversary label. Bolivar is one of Habanos's more serious marques -- full in body, rich in reputation -- and a numbered cabinet of 50 at limited production is exactly the format that ends up in serious cellars rather than lounges.
