Costa Rica Lands Its Third Edicion Regional, a $65 El Rey del Mundo

Costa Rican Habanos smokers get a new Edicion Regional on September 28: the El Rey del Mundo Tico, a 5 9/10 x 54 robusto extra in the Geniales vitola. It honors the 15th anniversary of Cruz Canela & Trust G.B., the country's Habanos distributor, and 6,000 individually numbered boxes ship inside a desktop humidor built by HumidifGroup, a box within a box. The math is striking: $980 a box, or about $65 a cigar, pricing that confirms how far Edicion Regionals have drifted from their affordable-stash origins. A run of 15 Master Piece humidors holding two boxes each will follow. This is only Costa Rica's third regional ever, after a 2017 Ramon Allones and a 2020 Saint Luis Rey, and notably all three share the same 54 ring gauge, a quiet local preference for girth.
