Fratello Cigars is releasing Cowbell as a Switzerland-only limited edition, with the run dropping through Swiss retailers on August 1. The cigar is a 5 x 50 robusto with a pigtail cap -- an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper, a Cameroon binder, and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers -- rolled at the La Aurora factory in the Dominican Republic. Only 200 boxes of 20 exist, priced at CHF 16.50 each (roughly $20.30 USD), distributed exclusively through ImpCor GmbH. Omar de Frias credited repeat visits to Switzerland as the inspiration, which is roughly as honest as cigar naming gets. Geographic exclusives tied to a single distribution relationship are the norm in European premium tobacco, but the Cameroon binder is a less typical move for a Fratello release and will draw attention from people who follow the brand closely. The practical note: if you are not in Switzerland or connected to a Swiss retailer, this one does not exist for you.
