HVC's Only Legends Lancero Finally Ships

The long-teased lancero from HVC's 500 Years line is in stores as of this week, about three months behind its original Father's Day target. Only Legends is a 7 1/2 x 38 in pure Nicaraguan dress: Corojo 99 wrapper from Jalapa, Jalapa binder, and a filler mix of Criollo 98 and Corojo 99. Production is capped at 5,000 cigars, so despite the lanky format this is not a volume play. Pricing is the refreshing part. At $12.80 a cigar, or $128 for a box of ten, it lands well under the $18 to $25 that limited-edition lanceros have been commanding lately. If the lancero revival has a value argument, this is it.
