Joya de Nicaragua is releasing a limited edition of its Clasico Original blend named after the White House Green Room -- the parlor where Nixon-era visitors were handed a JDN and invited to sit. The cigar itself is not a new blend; the Clasico Original has been in continuous production since the early days of the factory and was genuinely the official cigar of the Nixon White House in the 1970s, a fact JDN has never been shy about. What is new is the shape: a 6 x 54 diadema styled as a stout double perfecto, a format not previously offered in the line. Production is capped at 1,200 boxes of 20, with 700 allocated to the U.S. market and 500 going overseas. At roughly 14,000 sticks total for U.S. retail, this is a collector drop with a genuine backstory rather than a manufactured one -- the history predates the marketing by about 50 years.
