Joya de Nicaragua Revisits Its White House History

In the 1970s, the Nixon White House named Joya de Nicaragua as its official cigar and offered them to guests who gathered in the Green Room, a formal parlor used for small receptions. This year, the Nicaraguan factory is honoring that chapter with a limited vitola of its Clasico Original blend -- the modern descendant of the exact line smoked in that room -- called the Green Room Selection. The new size is a 6 x 54 diadema, closer to a stout double perfecto, limited to 1,200 boxes of 20 with 700 earmarked for the U.S. market and 500 going overseas. The Clasico Original has been in production for most of Joya's history, with the branding last refreshed in 2023; the Green Room adds a commemorative vitola to a line that carries genuine institutional weight. The factory itself bears visible scars from the Nicaraguan Revolution -- bullet holes in the building still -- and that history of survival gives the brand a credibility that most anniversary editions cannot manufacture. At 1,200 boxes, this one will move quickly.
