La Aroma de Cuba's Limited Line Gets Its Second Size

Ashton has introduced a new sampler for its La Aroma de Cuba brand that does something meaningful beyond the bundle: it includes the Habano Reserve El Jefe, a 7 x 58 grand toro that marks only the second vitola ever released in the Habano Reserve line. Until now the Habano Reserve existed solely in the Monarch, a 6 x 52 toro -- a limited-production line built on an Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler, rolled at My Father Cigars in Esteli. The El Jefe sampler packs five sticks: one Habano Reserve El Jefe alongside two La Aroma de Cuba originals and two La Aroma de Cuba Connecticuts, all in the same oversized 7 x 58 format, priced at $49.99 for the set. The Habano Reserve El Jefe will also become available as a standalone release this fall in 24-count boxes. If you have been waiting for a reason to try the Habano Reserve without committing to a full box of the Monarch, the sampler is a reasonable entry point -- and the grand toro format in a Rosado-wrapped Nicaraguan blend is a combination that tends to reward ring gauge.
