The cigar carries the standard La Colmena blend: Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed desflorada wrapper, Ecuadorian binder, Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers, priced at $18 per stick or $180 for a box of ten. The review found it pleasant but constrained by its format: toast, pepper, creaminess, and mild earthiness building across three thirds, but with the reviewer noting that the blend shows better in thicker ring gauges. The closed foot and hand-twisted head are signatures of the La Colmena line's Cuban custom-roll inspiration, and construction was noted as very good. At this size and price, an 88 in a line better known for its larger formats is a reasonable outcome -- the Amado No. 40 is positioned as a morning smoke option rather than the flagship La Colmena experience, and it fulfills that role with a clean 80-minute burn.
