La Flor Dominicana Ships a $200 Cigar in a Carbon Fiber Box

La Flor Dominicana has started delivering its Carbon Flower collaboration to retail, and the packaging is the opening statement: five cigars arrive in a carbon fiber case made by ProjectCarbon, a luxury cigar accessory brand, with the whole kit priced at $200. The cigar itself is a 6 x 54 toro extra built on a Mexican San Andres wrapper over tobaccos grown on LFD's own farms in La Canela, Dominican Republic. Tony Gomez drew the blend brief straight from the carbon material -- dense, textured, a certain gravity -- and tried to encode those characteristics into the leaf. It is a rare case of a collaboration where the accessory partner actually drove the blend concept rather than just putting their logo on the band. Whether you are buying it for the case or the cigar, 50 bucks per smoke is the admission price, so the box had better earn its keep.
