The First Liga Privada Culebra Is Coming to Events

Drew Estate is twisting up something genuinely rare for its 30th anniversary: the Liga Privada Tres Serpientes, the first culebra in the Liga Privada lineup. Three slender 6 1/2 x 43 cigars are braided and tied together, wrapped in the H99 Connecticut corojo leaf that has become the brand's most sought-after wrapper, with H99 binder and filler underneath. It is strictly an event cigar, available at Drew Estate in-store events from this month through December or until it sells out, priced at $160 for a box containing three culebras, which works out to nine individual cigars. The culebra format has its roots in factory workers pooling their daily rations, so watching it resurface as a luxury collector piece for a brand's anniversary tells you everything about where cigar culture has traveled.
