Germany Gets a Prominentes-Sized Por Larranaga

The newest Cuban regional exclusive went on sale in Germany this week: the Por Larranaga 35 Aniversario, a 7 5/8 x 49 Prominentes commissioned to celebrate 35 years of distributor 5th Avenue Products Trading, the Habanos importer founded in 1989 by the late Heinrich Villiger. It is the first German Edicion Regional rolled in this vitola and only the fourth Por Larranaga regional the distributor has ordered since 2006. Availability is deliberately tight, restricted to La Casa del Habano and Habanos Specialist stores at 35 euros per cigar in 50-count boxes. Por Larranaga is one of Habanos' oldest and quietest marques, which is exactly why its regionals draw collector attention: small production, real 19th-century pedigree, and a habit of appreciating on the secondary market once German shelves clear.
