A Birthday Gift That Became a Line: Perdomo Legacy Father and Son

Nick Perdomo Jr. co-founded Perdomo Cigars with his wife Janine in 1992. His son, Nicholas Perdomo III, grew up in the business and took the title of national director of sales in June 2019. The Perdomo tobacco lineage goes back further still: Nick Jr.'s father and grandfather both worked in the Cuban cigar industry. When Nick Jr. turned sixty, his son decided the occasion deserved a cigar. The result is Perdomo Legacy Father and Son, a three-blend project that splits the work between generations.

Each man took one blend solo and they built the third together. Nicholas III blended the Maduro. Nick Jr. blended the Shade Grown. The Connecticut is a joint effort. All three use the same vitola, a box-pressed 6 x 48/60/52 gran figurado, and all three carry the same fifteen-dollar price tag. The cigars debuted at Two Guys Cigars in New Hampshire in May 2026, with wider retail distribution planned for the fourth quarter.

What separates the Father and Son project from a standard anniversary release is the leaf. The Shade Grown blend uses a hybrid tobacco that crosses a habano seed with a Cameroon seed, developed by the company and grown on Perdomo family farms in Nicaragua. The wrapper and binder both carry this hybrid leaf. The filler draws from Condega, Esteli, and Jalapa. All of the tobacco comes from harvests between 2011 and 2016, which is why the company calls it limited production rather than a regular line. The plan is to release the cigars twice a year, giving the aged inventory time to replenish.

The Perdomo Legacy line, launched in 2025, was already the most significant release in the company's history. The original Legacy Shade Grown earned four number one rankings from cigar media outlets, including Cigar Coop's Cigar of the Year. Father and Son builds on that foundation by doing something the original Legacy did not: it puts the generational handoff at the center of the story. Nicholas III is the fourth generation of Perdomo tobacco men. His maduro is the first blend he has authored for a major release. If the line succeeds, it will not be because of the birthday. It will be because the family found a leaf worth passing down.
